The program has only one concentration area, Animal Health, which is the focus of research of professors, all focused on epidemiological, diagnostic, therapeutic, prognostic and preventive aspects of diseases in production animals and company, as well as their interrelations with humans and the environment. Infectious and parasitic diseases:

Fcus on: Applied Immunology and veterinary infectology, with approaches in the areas of zoonoses in pet animals, canine and sylvatic leishmaniasis, immunodiagnosis and control of infectious diseases in domestic and wild animals; Collective health; Research with Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis and glycobiology; Tropical diseases; Epidemiological studies, medical biogeography and geotechnologies applied to animal and public health; Parasitoses, with studies involving Coccidian protozoa such as Neospora caninum, Toxoplasma gondii, Sarcocystis spp., Besnoitia besnoiti and Hammondia spp.

Pathology, Clinical and Veterinary surgery:

The researches are directed to the study of neoplasms in animals of the company, production and wild, inflammation, endocrinopathies, immunopathology, immunophenotyping, molecular pathology, acupuncture; In addition to operative techniques and teaching methodology in the clinic area and surgery; veterinary anesthesiology and reparative surgeries; also, surgical sterilization methods; Biomaterials, hydroxyapatite, orbital implant; toxic and medicinal plants; Mycotoxins and mycotoxicoses; Clinical treatment of ruminant infectious diseases; Neonatology of ruminants; Hematology and clinical biochemistry of animals of interest in veterinary medicine.

Biotechnological Products and processes:                                   

It is generally emphasized in the study of new products for use in veterinary medicine. In this context, it launches biotechnologies to develop these products. Thus, in this line are found researches with emphasis on pharmacology and neurosciences, studying topics such as glioma cells, glytoma, neurotoxicity, immune response, flavonoids, alkaloids, medicinal and toxic plants, immunodiagnosis, serology, Epidemiology, biotechnology for antigen and antibody production. Many studies are also developed focusing on developing technologies for animal reproduction, evaluating nutritional compounds, reproduction biotechnologies, reproduction physiology, reproductive management, pharmacologic control of the cycle Artificial insemination, embryo transfer and fertilization  "in vitro " in different domestic species; Finally, there are still researches in this line aimed at identifying molecular markers for animal selection and application in genetic improvement.
